I had a hmf slip on with a uni-filter on a my bike and just recently put a sparks full exhaust on. It had 165 main and 42 pilot for the hmf. Got the sparks jet kit which comes with a 155,152 main 45 pilot. Put the 155 and the 45 in and the bike will not stay running will not idle runs like crap. So I put the 165 and the 42 back in. Still dont idle right and and when i rev up it pops and stuff. Do i need to go up a jet. Why is sparks recommending a small jet than a hmf slipon?

165/42 should be about right, you might want to check to make sure your air filter is clean and also the choke levers on the 400 carbs have a tendancy to wear the clipping mechanism and vibration actually will cause the lever to engauge to the first notch. check that too.

it wont even start with choke down..Have to choke to start and when i take chole off have to give it gas to stay running also when i took main jet out i think i turn the nut on the jet/needle holder and really dont know where it was if that even matters

What elevation are you at? You definitely need to add more fuel, that Sparks system is letting A LOT more air through than your HMF slip on
