Yesterday I moved the 06 back to the back of the yard to cover it up, since it's been sitting out in the sun and not being ridden at all since mid July.

Cranked right up, and headed towards the back of the yard with it. Shut it off to move a couple of other wheelers around, and when I got back on it, hit the start button, it turned over a couple of times and then nothing.

Display is still lit up, but start button does nothing. My first thought was I'd bumped the kill switch, but I flipped it back and forth a few times, ensured it was centered, and still nothing.

Jumped the solenoid and it turns over fine but won't fire off, so with no spark I'm looking closely at the kill switch. It acts like it would if the kill switch was off.

Is there any way to bypass the kill switch to see if that is the problem? Hoping I can check it without taking everything off to hook another switch in without first confirming that's the problem.

The ignition switch might cause it to do the same thing. The wire colors to jump for the kill switch and ignition switch are below.
I noticed an error in the service manual (see the 2nd image) showing wire color pair continuity for the kill switch while in the off positions, rather than in the run position. The wire colors are correct though... the last image shows it correctly, (Black/Green & Black/White) in the run position only.

I just thought of something else... Does your bike have an inhibitor switch on the front brake lever? If so check the connectors on that too. I think it is the upper switch in the stack...?

It has the inhibitor switch, but won't turn over in neutral either, so it's something else.

I can get to the ignition switch without removing the front fender etc. I'll try plugging in an extra switch I have and see if it makes a difference.

Retro, you gotta remember I don't do teh electrics.

I see the diagrams, but have no idea how to go about bypassing the stop switch. Can you dumb it down...a lot...? LOL

Yeah, just connect the Black/Green & Black/White wires in the handlebar switches sub-harness together (anywhere that you choose to) to temporarily bypass/test the kill switch. If the bike starts while those two wires are connected together, replace or repair the kill switch.

You can bypass/test the ignition switch in the same manner but you'll need to jumper two separate pairs from the four switch wires. Connect the Red/Black and Pink wires together. Then connect the Red and Black wires together. Don't allow those two separate wire pairs to touch ground, or touch each other. If the bike starts and runs replace the Ign. switch.

I'll look at the rest of the wiring diagram to see if there are anymore possible failure points... check the fuse sockets if you haven't already.

While you have the kill switch bypassed (Black/Green & Black/White connected together) you can test the starter button switch by touching the Yellow/Red wire to them both. You'll have three wires connected together momentarily... The starter solenoid should kick in and crank the motor if its in neutral. If that Yellow/Red jumper does not kick in the solenoid then the gear position switch circuit is not supplying a ground for the solenoid (or the ignition) while the trans is in neutral. If thats the case then there is probably a bad connection inside the harness connector plug for the ECM. Check the diode socket inside the fuse box when ya check all of the fuse sockets.

I'll check over the fuse box good, make sure I have in and out on all circuits, and I have an extra ignition switch so I'll plug that in temporarily and see if anything changes since I can do that up in the left front wheel well.

If that doesn't change anything I'll try jumping the black/green and black/white wires together up around the kill switch and see if that gets it going.

Thanks for the help! I'll report back. Might be a day or two before I get to it.
