Hello forum, nee here. So I have a 05 foreman 500. It had the automatic, d1 and d2 and push button shift. When I put it in drive sometime it grids and clicks. And when I go over 20 mph it just revs up and wont go any faster. I spent the last couple days going through all these forums and I think I narrowed it down to a loose clutch. But the problem I'm encountering is that there isnt an adjustment screw, or I'm just not looking in the right spot. So if anyone has this issue and know how to fix please let me know.!

Thanks patch

There is no change clutch on a Hondamatic, just a centrifugal clutch so no adjustment is possible. But the sub-trans linkage might not be right according to your explanation. Or possibly a gear in the sub is failing.

If it feels like a clutch slipping under load, its either the Hondamatic failing or the centrifugal clutch failing, or its starving for oil pressure. First thing you should do is check that the motor oil is at the proper level as advised in the manual. The motor oil must be clean and it must be JASO MA or MA2 certified for wet clutches. If you have any more details of the symptoms you can share we might be able to help you narrow the issue down.
