Hi, I am selling a 2005 Honda Rancher AT. It's yellow and black and has low hours. It just had a full tune up done to it.and has always been stored in a shed. A new battery was put in last season. It has never been abused.. It has after market ITP mudlite tires on it, full skid plates underneath.

yeah 4x4 thanks already looked at kbb but I feel like they are worth less with the problems/ power loss because of the auto. When I mean worth less/ people don't like them and are hard to sell so people will pay less.

That price is retail, so I'd definiately not pay more than $2500. The transmission is all just personal preference. Some people hate the ES but I don't have issues with mine and I personally think most of it is just having a bad rep because people hear something and latch onto it and drill it into the ground without really knowing one way or the other.

I'm not saying there aren't problems with the ES or the AT for that matter, I just think a lot of it is hype. People complain about things on forums or in life when they actually have issues, not when they are out riding and not having problems. Those without problems aren't coming here to talk about it.

I prefer foot shift, but I would pick an ES model over an AT model any day and the reason is that when the AT tears up, it is usually expensive to fix. If you have the Hondamatic transmission, you have to replace the whole transmission and that is expensive. When the ES models mess up, usually you just have to replace a sensor or shift motor.

good point on the braking part, never thought about the cost and parts. thanks so much for your answers. I will offer him the 2,500 and if he turns it down than ohh well I will keep looking and I think I will go with simple ES model especially if I could get new body/ would be soo nice. Thanks again

The AT models can be switched to ES I believe. Got my 05 in 06 for 3800. Used ALOT.

Yeah, they can be used as an ES, but the transmission isn't a true 5 speed like the regular ES models that use regular gears. The ATs are hydrostatic transmissions.

Yeah, they do, but not a 400. I think all the 400 Ranchers have the auto transmissions.

I've owned, rode, and worked on them since Honda started selling 4-wheelers in '84. My first 4-wheeler was the '84 TRX200.
