Got an 05 400ex and there is a black and red wire coming off the stator. Wiring diagram shows going to cdi but there is no pig tail for it to plug into. Been stumped for a couple days and not sure what plugs into

Plug will be back under a rubber sleeve on top of the battery. It should be a female plug coming out of the stator and have a male connector back at the battery. Wire color will be the same black with red tracer on both.

There’s a black and red wire coming off the rectifer. I don’t see any plug coming off the batter. Dosent the stator plug go to the front of the quad. The pig tale is short and don’t see how it would go all the way back to the battery

It dosnt go to the battery. It just plugs in back above the battery. The wire does turn and run up to the cdi from the wire loom.

Thank you but I’m still confused as to where it goes cause the only place that it sticks out is back by the rectifier. I’m not a big fan of wiring.

Haha no worries! No one likes wiring lol. You are getting closer. The wire should come out of the stator and go straight up to tie togeather with the main wire harness and run back to the top of the battery. That is where the whole harness should run. It will then have a bunch of connectors. One is the 4 pin plug out of the stator. Right in that same spot there should be the male black with red tracer plug. The female connector at that spot actually just runs in the main wire harness straight to the cdi box according to the wiring diagram in my fsm.
