Just purchased this atv everything works fine other than when switch is in auto it goes from first gear running fine to it won’t barely move when it hits second. In esp it works fine you can shift through gears and runs great. Anybody have same problem
X2 get the service manual first. Let me know if you can't find it, I can help with that. Then once you get that, try to retrieve error codes. But if that gives nothing, from what you are describing, you may have a centrifugal clutch that is slipping just ever so slightly. Cause what happens if the clutch slips at all, is the ECM actually senses the reduction in torque so fast that it thinks in "1st" gear you are already getting good drive, so it puts it into a higher gear ratio, and it continues to do so cause that makes the clutch slip worse. So in auto mode as soon as you start out, it just bogs down. This sounds crazy and for years I denied it as being the reason mine wouldn't work in Auto. Cause how could Honda NOT have the ECM use wheel speed to limit it going into a higher gear ratio until you've actually reached a certain speed. But it's true. I finally caved and put a new clutch in once the slip became bad enough to notice in ESP. And magically...auto has worked ever since. And I run 23" tires now to keep it that way.
