Hi there all,

I know there are many people who run into issues with these hondamatic transmissions and then don't want to deal with the headache and/or cost of repairing them. Here i've included a electrical diagram of how to rewire your shift buttons directly to your shift motor so you no longer have to worry about replacing angle sensors/ecms/swashplates/drive motors, diagnosing codes, etc. Feel free to leave any questions.

Wow, that's impressive that you figured that out. I hope I never get to that point on mine, but good to know. @retro what's your take on this?!?

Thanks guys. Just remember this is a last resort! Only do this if you can 99.99% guarantee your ECM is damaged (no way to 100% tell without opening it) but the two pins on the ECM that are for the shift motor and/or shift buttons should be listed in the manual and it should tell you how to test them. If its your angle sensor/shift buttons, then just fix it, its not worth loosing AUTO for those. The ECM being 200+CAD I rather do this 10-20$ workaround.

Cheers.

I have wired all relays just like shown. Wanted to try on 12v fan just to make sure all was working before connecting to atv. I have a dpdt switch that has 6 prong and the wiring shown has 4 wires. Can you explain how to wire switch? Thanks in advance.

Hi great info Here.. I have a same honda Rancher, Year and all, First of all i replaced the angle sensor and programmed the ecm. It runs fine for a minute then it goes back into limp mode again. I bought a bypass wire harness from subzerosound.com after i installed the harness and shifting up and down the spark went out. I did the tests the service manual says like the coil and stator, Long story short i bought a good used ecm on ebay and started right up, after shifting gears up and down i too it off the lift to test ride it and no spark again... btw when i started it with the new ecm my reverse wasnt working either, Would you know where i could start looking or point me in some direction? Thank You in advance!
