Hi everyone! So I recently bought my new toy. 2003 Honda Rancher 350. It seems to be doing really well.... except the switch out cable. It is stuck or something but I cannot get it to switch out of 4x4. I have no experience in these at all. Does anyone know anything about them? How complicated is this fix? Do I really need it? I'm clueless on this! ?

well, first, welcome to the forums. second, please post in the correct section ( repair section ). third, that stuck cable is the reason warn no longer makes them !. a company now known as '' wide open '' sells warns design, same product, different name. soooo, look up ''wide open '' search for your model number, and see about getting a replacement cable for your kick out. yes, you need that cable to work, in order to go from 2wd to 4wd. if its seized ? ( which is very common for them ), then your stuck in 4wd.

From the year of your atv , I think that atv was full time 4x4 and was modified to 4x2 , I would think the cable you are talking about is a after market kick out as Shade pointed to , there is a rebuild kit which includes the cable , the cable is not sold separately , it cost about $100 , you get all the bearings and seals , cable , pull handle , snap rings , springs , gasket and grease , takes about an hour to rebuild the 4x2 , it needs to be taken apart to change the cable so you might as well change everything that comes in the kit ------ to get it out you need to unbolt the front diff and move it forward
