Yesterday was using it to keep a few tree in air to cut. Hit reverse backfired and shuts off. Starts up again.. shut off again. Now it cranks but won’t won’t fire. Battery is fully charged, pulled the plug and cleaned it up

Take the plug out and ground it to the head, see if you have spark.

My old rear engine JD mower (Kawasaki engine) did what you describe a few weeks ago. I went over it and over it and finally tried a different spark plug and it fired right up. Old plug looked ok but woudn't spark very well at all when I pulled it and grounded it to the block.

how often do you use this atv, does it sit often??

also, have to ask, HOW are you using an ATV to hold tree's in the air??

Jeep.. you were right! Blonde moment it is. I checked the plug earlier this morning and planned to get a new one. Had no spark. So I got home just now put the plug in and the switch was moved just enough to kill engine. Fired right up

I use the quad daily... all the maintenance is up date.
It was the kill switch I had blond moment. It’s was just moved a hair enough to cause me a headache.

Now the trees were not monstrous. I had leaned on another from a storm... used rope and chain to winch it straight up to cut it and held it in the air while cut a second piece so it didn’t hit power wires. The winch is old on my quad that’s getting upgraded. Not enough power

Nothing better than a cheap, easy fix.

I'm sure you can figure out why I told you to check that.

You feel a little silly the first time. You feel downright stupid the 4th or 5th time you do it, especially if you don't stop to use your head and start taking stuff apart. LOL

I get a chuckle out of kill switch mistakes..... But dont feel bad.... I've done it many times, when she won't start, that's the 1st thing i check lol! Doesn't pay to get in THAT big of a hurry does it ?? :) I'm glad it was a simple fix.

This is a sure fire cure!
