I have an 02 Honda Rancher ES 4x4 that won't start. It's been sitting for a few years also. Emptied gas tank& put new gas in. Took the seat off& the black covering of the carburetor will start& run as long as you spray starting fluid in the breather, but once you stop it dies. I know you shouldn't spray it with starting fluid, but i've found that it's the only thing that'll get it going. Any suggests?

I would make sure inside of tank is CLEAN<, make sure fuel flows well thru peacock, and replace fuel line from, tank to carb, and then clean carb
this will solve your fuel issues if you do it all!

and welcome to the site!

welcome; and, ^^^, the same as mrbb say's.
plus dont use ethanol gas.. ethanol leaves varnish deposits, plus mineral deposits, do to the water content..
