new member any help appreciated! Previous owner must have rode a lot of mud. When fixing rear brake problem(completely packed with mud) I took the aluminum housing off to press the pivoting piece out (mushroomed from beating it I guess) when it seperated from the axel housing oil flowed out everywhere. Is this normal? My brothers 400 foreman was dry here. sorry so long winded.

your seals are bad..you need to replace the seals in the differental...when your seals go out..it lets alot of mud..water..so forth inside the rear axle tubbing..which..in turn..probally means your rear differental is full of water and mud..you need to check the rear differental for this...also check your bearings..they are probally shot..or close to it if the other owner road it that hard as you say.
