The knob that reads D1-D2-ESP doesn't do anything. The LCD dash display is bad as well. Could they be related? I have a Clymer manual on the way but I'm hoping for a little head start.

The physical trans works fine in reverse, high and low. I may just leave it at that for now. I downloaded the manual and I'll get to probing and prodding soon. If I fix the electrical bug, great. If not, I still got my $400 bucks worth.

They are not "serviceable" by Honda's original intent and by Honda parts, but in real world components and assembly they actually are. Honda can't police what you do in your own garage or if you find repair components that fit and replace them on your own. Here's a good read for you: https://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums/repair-maintenance/76538-rubicon-hondamatic-rebuild.html

But from what you are describing, you have a sensor or ECM or connector issue happening. Has nothing to do with the inside of the Hondamatic anyway. You'll want to follow through the steps in the factor service manual. https://www.hondaatvforums.net/foru...ads.html#/forumsite/21330/topics/50817?page=1 I wouldn't go with the Clymer for this issue.
Thanks a ton for the links. Learned a lot from the service manual.
