buddy has a 2001 350 rancher and it bogs down in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears and seems to do ok in 4th and 5th right now he has taken it to several different mech's and they all clean the carb and call it fixed but its not can someone please help?
i doubt it..if it's not in the carb..which..i think it is..then it could be that your timming got off...it may have jumped time..maybe not enough to keep it from running..but enough to keep it from running right.did all of that several times now. could it be an electrical prob?
if it only runs with the choke pulled..then you damn sure got something wrong with your carb !!!..remove it..remove all the jets..all of it..clean the jets out..blow the carb out with some compressed air..you got something stopped up in that carb !.Thanks all he also says if the choke is pulled out it will run good. he has taken it to several different mech and all say his carb looks good and is fine
I would try Ebay.thanks he thinking about getting a new carb where would be a good place to get a new carb.
for what he'll spend on a new carb..he can buy a dozen rebuild kits for the carb he has..just give the carb a good cleaning..and it will run !well it used to leak gas out of the bottom of the carb. now its doing this he has cleaned it and had kits put in it. He's thinking about getting a new carb and starting over?
your right !..anytime you spray a carb down with a spray cleaner..such as gum out..i learned the hard way..it melts anything rubber in it !..lol..from the sounds of it..it got sprayed or dipped in something..and the o-rings and gaskets and the float needle never got removed..lol...also..if the owner didn't remove that very tiny o-ring that sit's in the bottom of the pilot air/fuel mixture screw..it gets disolved !..lol.Did he install the kits or did someone tell him they installed em. From what your describing, sounds like someone is just spraying the carb down with cleaner and the seals and o-rings are going bad. Not trying to badger, just trying to help, and save someone some bucks in the process.
Completely remove and clean all the jets, the starter jet, slow jet, main jet, float valve and starter enrichment valve (choke plunger) and pilot screw. When removing the pilot screw, be careful not to loose the tiny o-ring, washer and spring on the pilot screw. Before removing the pilot screw, turn it in to lightly seat it while counting the turns. That way you can put it back the right amount of turns. Hold the jets up to light and make sure you can see through them good. Take your time and look over the carb body and find all the passageways in the carb body and blow them out with an air hose. If you can blow air in a hole, air should come out another hole somewhere.thanks all were going to tear it down this weekend and put a kit in it and see what happens.
