1000% agree with this. I know guys who are trying to get some traction with the factories for adaptive equipment (landing gear etc.) on two-wheeled machines but unfortunately they have not had any luck so far. We're too small of a niche apparently.

Really cool to see this technology becoming more available. I have an injury similar to Blake's, and it seems to me that most adaptive equipment for riding is a custom job. An off-the-shelf bolt-on solution, or better yet having the equipment installed at the factory, would make life a whole lot...

@XplicitRacing6 nice job, congrats! I'll look into the Hoosiers and wheels. My quad still has the OEM tires and are worn but serviceable, but idk how they would do on a dirt track. Would you recommend a 10x10 rear over the stock 9x8?

@XplicitRacing6 LOL at the ratchet strap job 😂 whatever works right? It seems like, in short, lowering/widening the quad and having the right tires are the essentials. What tires do you have? Looking forward to your 440 build. My XR has a 440 kit and it's a torque monster.

To celebrate having owned my quad for 6 months now, and to hopefully help out others in my position, I made a video showing all the modifications I've done. I've gotten some good riding in over the past several weeks, and am at the point now where I can ride comfortably at a moderate pace and...

This is awesome! I've been thinking about getting into flat track myself. Any other setup changes besides the wide axle and lowering link?

Ended up having a really good time on my trip, and the build is coming along nicely. I was able to get some good seat time to make some tweaks, mainly to the seat. I got some help to cut the back down to about half the original height - at first it was pushing me forward too much when I was...

A few more pics of the seat after finishing up the attachment and trying it out. The flat stock I used was 3/16” steel, pretty sturdy stuff. The rear bar is bolted at the widest point of the stock seat pan, and the front is bolted about 6.5” forward where there are pre-existing holes in the pan...

Yeah I'm going to run it with the full backrest for now but I'm probably going to end up cutting it down once I figure out how deep of a "bucket" I actually need. Like I said before, my main concern is side-to-side movement. I'll call it a success if it doesn't fall apart on me and I can do...

Made some good progress and did an initial mock up of the go kart seat. Basically just used some flat stock and L brackets to bolt it onto a stock seat pan. Even without all the attachment point bolted down, it feels sturdy and should keep my butt in place. Just waiting on a few hardware bits to...

Tabs sound like a good idea if I can make a separate part that fits to the seat. I thought about reshaping the stock seat with some side bolstering, but it's just not wide enough (seat is 15" at its widest, my hips are about 16"). I ended up buying a plastic go kart seat and another stock seat...

Just posted a quick video on my instagram of me shifting through the gears with the hand shift lever. Pretty easy as long as you're going in a straight line  https://www.instagram.com/p/ByqvyX7Hm4G/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

One more thing I forgot to mention, i’ve been working on some wearable protection for my bottom/hip area. I bought some cheap padded shorts on amazon (meant for snowboarding) and replaced the EVA foam butt pad with some 1/2” soft viscoelastic polyurethane foam. This type of foam is usually used...

Thanks! One of the guys offered to let me try his adapted KTM 450, just not on race day 😂 he lives not too far in Indiana so maybe sometime this summer I’ll get the chance to ride with him.

Got the seat back today. Turned out quite nice - the gel insert definitely adds some cushioning and softness. Also got a hand shift lever (I think it’s meant for utility quads with electric shift) as a temporary solution until the electric one gets sorted. Should at least save me from reaching...

So on Sunday I went to check out a motocross event where they were running an adaptive class. There were three riders in the “sit-down” class (all had spinal cord injuries like myself), one of which was Doug Henry. Had the pleasure of meeting all three of them and got to check out their bike...

For now I'm going to see how the stock seat with the gel insert works. Desert seat is definitely looking like the next step though. I was told that a gripper cover might not be the best solution, because if you do slide around it would make it harder to re-center yourself. I'm starting to...

Worked on some more maintenance items over the last week - new chain, sprockets (hit up Vortex Racing if you ever need a chain or sprockets for a 400, or anything else) and skid plate, but more importantly, the piece de resistance finally came - PSU electric shifter from Pro-Shift. Looks like a...

Got the hand rear brake set up today - the Grom clutch lever fit pretty well into the existing TRX perch after shaving down the small tab on the inward side of the lever and adding a couple washers between the two levers. The nice thing about the Grom lever is that it’s about the same length as...
