Hey Taxman, do you think you take a few pictures of the rear bumper and especially the mounting, maybe two pics of each side of the mounting?? Im somewhat interested in one, but not until I see how well they mount. Thanks.
I hear the power steering is awesome. I wish ours would have came with that---my wife would have loved it. I hear you on the mudding and deep water---I don't do much mudding with ours at all. I've heard that it's not good for the brakes, rear axle, etc. If I was mechanically inclined (which I'm not), I would feel better about it. I basically ride mine and do little maintenance on it at all. I do get brave on our 250EX and I will change the oil, spark plug and I'll clean the air filter--but that machine is really simple to work on. I don't touch the brakes, rear axle, etc. I hope the plow works for us---we definitely get enough snow here in upstate new york to warrant having a plow. And the fuel injection is great---you'll love that. I have to screw around with the 250EX a lot to warm it up when it's cold out since it has a carb on it. It's nice just hitting the start button and having it fire up. Let me know how you like it when you pick it up!
no i dont plan on winching. never needed one on a 2wd recon, dont think ill need one on a 4wd rancher. i stay outta deep mud because im nervous of getting mud/water in engine. i thought about the plow too but its not a priority now, wait till winter and it might be different. ive already got a rack bag, its a soft sided but it works for me. im nervous of putting it on because when i pulled it of the recon, the racks were rubbed free of paint in a few places from the bottom of the bag. the power sterring option is worth every penny. going to get it sat and have fun the rest of the day!
You got a great freaking deal...big time. $3000 and you've got a brand new quad?? Can't beat that. We ended up financing a tad over $6K, but we ended up getting a rear seat/trunk and the 60" plow. And we didn't get the trade-in that you did---only gave us $900 for our '02 250EX. Ours came with a winch, although I don't think it's a Warn. Are you going to put a winch on yours?
hey, update on rancher, i went to the dealer today and test rode a '11 rancher 4x4 power steering foot shift with red plastics. its a very plushy quad to me, i really like the power steering, and the display is exactly what i wanted. theyre asking $5799 out the door, they said theyll gimme $1650 for recon so ill only have to finance 3k on a brand new quad. cant wait to go get it and burn rubber.
i dont know if ill buy a plow since we generally can shovel our driveway with a regular shovel, although we've had 2 blizzards in the last 2 winters. but once i get some time on it, ill prolly get a few things for it maybe. once have enough clams, new mudlites. IMO, one of the best tire for al around terrain
You did get a great deal on it. We paid $5999 for a 2010 with 400 miles on it---although it is the AT model. That's awesome, bobs. Congrats! We've already rode ours a lot and plan on another long ride this weekend. Not that I'm anxious for winter, but I do want to see how this baby plows snow. We bought a 60" plow to go with it, which the dealer is going to order this fall. I just hope it hooks up to the winch. I've seen videos of ranchers plowing snow and they work pretty good from what I've seen and heard. Lots of low-end torque and great maneuverability for a mid-size quad is what I was told.
one dealer siad 1800 or so trade just sight unseen, but theyre 500 more thanother dealer. so prolly first weekend in june ill be going to the same dealer i got the recon from and trading up for the '11 420FPM in green. also a reason for getting power steering is the digital dash display. theyre asking $5799 + $12 doc fee, cash/check out the door. i hope for 1200 trade from them cause that would get me right at the payment i want
Our rancher doesn't have power steering, but I've heard it's pretty awesome. My wife would probably love it. Hey---congrats!!! I was wondering if you'd made up your mind. Did they give you a decent trade-in on your Recon? You're gonna love the Rancher--especially since you got it with the manual shift like you wanted.
hey taxman, does your rancher have power steering? if so, how well does it work, and whats it like to have. im probably going to buy a 2011 rancher 4x4, foot shift with power steering. thanks, and thanks for the posts about the ranchers.
