Hey DanG, how are u? It's great here! Not getting much sleep but it's all worth it! Like I told u last time we talked, we've got a new little girl to add to the family and she's AWSOME!! Also I thought I'd give u an update on my Rancher and some questions too. I got a new angle sensor for it and after I installed it, still nothing!! I started looking it over and found a blown fuse. A 30A that on the fuse box cover that's says motor. I assume it means shift motor, is that right? Anyways I replaced it and my Rancher seemed fixed. I test road it for a min but had to leave to go to my other daughters ball. When I got back I jumped back on it and after a couple of min it started blinking again!! It had blown that same fuse again!! If I replace it, it'll just do it again!! Do u have any ideals or suggestions on what the heck is going on!! I don't have a clue why it's doing that and I was hoping that u might. Just let me know what u think. Thanks again. Ttyl

Hey DanG, thanks for your support! She was born on the 26th, and I have to tell u it was AWSOME!!! Me and my wife was super happy. Both of us didn't think we'd b able to have any more kids, because of the chemo treatments I had. She's sooo great she weighed 8lbs 3oz, 20in long and bright red hair!! We got to bring her home today and let me tell u, I'm drained!!! Thanks again, ttyl

Hey DanG, thanks for the info. Everything you've suggested has helped me, therefore I trust you. I took your advice and joined that other forum as well. I also checked out the thread toodeep posted about cleaning a shift motor last night by his morning I went out to the garage and did the shift motor on my Rancher. His thread was very detailed and helpful almost a play by play…lol. My shift motor looks brand new!!! I couldn't believe how dirty they can get especially the contacts!! I also took it one step further and added a gasket type sealant around where the gasket ring goes to prevent moisture from getting in there in the future. Thanks again. Ttyl

Oh and btw, sorry I talk your head off, lol. Being a father of 2 (soon to b 3 ANY day now) girls and a husband, riding my Rancher and shooting my guns is about the ONLY macho thing I get to do these days, lol. So talking to u guys is really the only time I get to spent talking to friends. All the other days I'm mediating wars over who's made who cry or who's not sharing the Wii. Trust me my friend…if I had any hair I would b pulling it out constantly…lol. When the Army took my hair I decided to keep it off, no more "bed head" Woohoooo!!!!

Well I did check every wire in the harness that was wet and everything's ok, plugs too. I am gonna have to buy a new harness tho because the boots that go to the shift switches and oil sensor is dry rotted.

Something I missed tho… I was doing code 6 trouble shooting steps, again today, something I missed. If you'll look at 24-24 in the manual, step 10 asked if the resistance is with in 1.6-2.4k ohms right. Mine is giving a 4.6k! It should've been in the range of the question right? Since it wasn't it told me to go to step 11 to check continuity between W/R wire on 34 prong ECM connector and W/R wire on angle sensor plug. Also between G/Bu wires. If no, then open wire between ECM and sensor, if yes, faulty sensor. When I set my multimeter on the setting where it'll beep(u know which one I'm talking about?) it'll beep, but when I set it on the 200(1 before 20k) it'll read .03-.04. Do I need a new sensor? Been awhile since I had a course on multimeters, lol, when I changed my m.o.s to a Bradley mechanic(aft. 1st deployment).

Yes super CRAZY!!! The Army loves to cram as much knowledge as possible into their soldiers…well if its with in the allotted time…lmao!! Thanks again, ttyl

Oh I almost forgot, did u have a chance to ask him about the sensor and sub engine harness? The sensor that's on the back bottom side of the crank case. And the way the harness was wet on the inside. Is there any chance that could cause the problems I'm having? Let me know, thanks ttyl

Hey man thanks. I did remove the angle sensor to check it like the manual said to do. What exactly does he mean when he says "preloaded"? Also the battery checks out fine. As far as the control motor goes, I had to remove it too. The manual told me to remove it and run wires straight to the battery to make sure it's functioning ok, and it was. But I'll defiantly check it again. What would one do as far as cleaning one goes? When I took the angle sensor off is there a chance I didn't get it back on right? When I put it back on the manual said to turn it where the front is facing down and the back up, then turn it clockwise to line the bolt holes up. Could've I messed that up possibly? Just let me know, thanks again.
As far as classes go that they cram a whole lot of learning into very little time goes, I fell ya. When I was in the Army, they crammed the EMT course into 6wks. Crazy right!?!? Ttyl

Hey DanG, I've got a question, sort of a theory, for u. The other day I told u about the wire and boot that goes to the sensor on the backside, bottom of the crank case. About noticing it and doctoring it and my Rancher seemingly fixed. How it let me do the initial set up, where as it wouldn't even let me get to that point before. Anyways the wire and boot is in the sub harness with the wires that go to the shift switches located on the bottom left of the motor. I took the harness off and tore into it. U wouldn't believe how wet it was in there…super damp. Is it possible that if it were a short it would be in there? Could the damp wires and the sensor on the bottom rear of the crank case be whats throwing my Rancher and ECM outta whack?? Maybe even ask your friend what he thinks. Let me know, thanks again

Ok cool…I'm not sure what u had to cram for (a test probably) lol. But good luck on the outcome, I know how u feel I've done my share of cram sessions lol. Thanks, I'll talk to u soon

Hey man. I did what u told me to do and before I started it the reading was 12.6v Running it was 13.3v up to 13.9v. So I guess everything checked out there, I would've been pretty ticked if it were the battery, I've just had it like 2-3months. Actually I wish that would've been the problem…lol. Well I'm ready, tell me what to do next. Oh, u mentioned a buddy of yours who was a tech, any advise there? Thanks again man, look forwards to hearing from u.

Oh crap! I just realized what "PM" means…lol. Sorry u had to read all this in visitor messages. I've never sent a pm, my bad

Btw this is all over about a 3wk period. I'm going nuts without my quad!! I'm sure U know what I mean. Thanks again

Then I started the initial setting process, in the past it wouldn't even let me start that. It would just go back to blinking codes. Anyways after I got the setup done I test drove it around the yard, seemed fine. Then I started to get on the road and it acted like it wouldn't get outta 1st and -- started blinking AGAIN!!! So here I am now STUCK!! I don't know man, I'm lost. I really appreciate u taking time to brainstorm on it. If u have any more questions just let me know. Thanks again.

to every last one. Still no change. So I replaced the ECM. When I would just turn the ignition on the gear indicator red normal but when I started it -- would blink again. This time it gave me a 5. So I did ALL the trouble shooting procedures. Everything worked fine that I checked so the manual says faulty ECM. When I hooked everything back up it gave me a 6. Did it all over again. And again everything checked out, manual pointed to the ECM again. So I stripped it down again but this time noticed the wire going to the censor on the bottom, back of the crank case was kinked. I took it off and doctored it and plugged it back in. Everything seemed to work like it was supposed to. But it got dark on me so I had to quit. I went out there this evening and it was still working so I put it back together.

Hey I really appreciate you getting back to me so quick. Well u asked for it…lol. From the beginning. I took my daughter on a ride with me to check on the cows and the hay. As soon as we got back I pulled up behind the house to wash it( a lot of cow crap on it). We were gone for about 45min-1hr. So I left the key on so the fan could run(like I said bad move). Anyways it started up just fine but when I put it in D, it acted like it was in 5th and I noticed the gear indicator blinking. So I shut it off and went to the manual. I did the code retreviel process and it give me a 12(faulty ECM, control motor). So before I went and bought another one, I got on here and started asking questions. We all thought something just got wet. Anyways I did everything I was recommended. Long story short I checked all the connectors, and censors. The only one that had any corrosion on it what so ever was a red one under the left front fender. I cleaned it and all the connectors and added dielectric grease

Hey DanG, Manny told me u might b able to help me out with my Rancher issue. I've got a 06 400AT. I washed it after a ride but left the key on so the fan could run if I needed to(smart right?). It started up fine but when in gear it acted like it was in 5th and -- was blinking. I did the retrieval and it was a 12(faulty ECM, control motor). I did the trouble shooting , the CM was fine, faulty ECM. I installed another one but then it blinked a 5 then 6. Everything checked out, went back to faulty ECM in the steps. So I stripped the body down and checked everything. I found the oil temp censor wire was kinked, so I doctored it. Everything seemed fine so I did the initial setup and it went fine. I road it around the yard, then -- started blinking again, a 12. I think there might b a short somewhere. Do u have ANY ideal what's going on? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
