Assuming you like factory tread and trying to keep cost down, then you might consider scanning through local craigslist listings for new take offs. At my local dealer, I picked up a complete set of tires/wheels for my Rancher for $300 and nice having a complete new second set in the garage. Many here will know if Rancher wheels/tires would work on the Recon.

i just put a set of 2016 rancher tires on my 98 recon. I have a tiny bit of rub. trying to get information on a bigger shock vs a lift kit. I hear that 300ex shocks will add about an inch. cant seem to get any further than reading about others same situation. id show a pic but my other one never took...

I have a 2005 Recon and put my stock Rancher tires and rims on it and they work great, no rub, not tippy and a little more clearance. Looks better too, glad I did it.

X4 on the Rancher SRA stock size tires. We actually fit 25's on the front no problem, and 24's were the max we could fit on the rears. The 1" difference helped level the Recon out, always felt it had a bit of a "stinkbug" stance with same diameter tires front and rear.

23" Titan 489's all around (saving clutch)
