Stripping wheels and polishing

Wondering if anyone has had experience stripping the paint off the type of wheels pictured, and polishing them out afterwards? If so, what steps were taken and how much of a headache is it to do?

Its not easy work!

Mine weren't even painted and it still required plenty of hours of sanding and polishing.

Heres a thread I posted a while back.
