Connecting Rod versus Water

While remanning an engine in our factory this week, we ran across the connecting rod below. The damage occurred after the engine was sunk. Water, especially muddy water, is absolutely not compressible. Something had to give . . .

no matter how much you show sunken atv motor damage here ?, they still think they own a boat that rides on land too !..lol.
