trailer with two ATV

Hi Everyone,

I have a trailer (6x8) that I use mainly for hauling stuff, camping and transporting my Rancher. I recently have gained access to another Rancher that my wife can ride anytime she wants too. As a matter of fact, the deal is if I got it running, maintain it and store it on our property it's "like hers".

My question is have any of you made modifications to fit both ATV's on that size trailer. I don't have to travel far to ride. 30 minutes on an HWY that is not busy and is curvey. 40 mph tops.

Is standing one ATV upright okay? The weight capacity on my trailer 2000 lbs. I hate to buy a different trailer.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks, Neal

dont stand the atv up !!. you need a longer trailer , no doubt about it. you own a truck ?, haul one in the truck bed, other on the trailer.

if the trailer was 6x10 ?, you could sit the atvs sideways on the trailer, tight fit, but can be done.

measure the width of the ranchers, see if they are under 4ft wide ?, if they are ?, then yes, you could sit them sideways on the trailer :-).

I've seen people stand them up and it just looked wrong. Sounds like modification, new trailer or two trips.

Thanks

I Know people that haul them standing up and haul them FAR
it can be done, but IMO< you need to remember that oil will move, so once you get to where your going, and set atv back down, you need to wait a while for oil to maybe drain back where it should be, before starting or running

I don't like hauling them that way, but it can be done !

if your trailer is NO 6 ft wide and 8 ft long you should be able to fit 2 atvs on it, you just need to modify the way maybe some to allow for side loading, will be tight, but again, it should be do able!
and have so ask, does your trailer have a a 2000 LB axle or a 2000lb payload on trailer?
most single axle trailers are NOT rated to haul 2k,, some are, so I would make sure on this!

my 8.5 x 10 ft trailer only has a carrying capacity of 1200 lbs?
but its a torsion axle and NOT leaf springs
and only a small 4 lug set up!

I first learned about storing atvs straight up on the back racks from a friend who was serious into Banchees , he had over 50 Banchees and 10 or so of the TRX250Rs and ATC250Rs , he kept them in his grandfathers garage , stored 50 of them in rows against the walls 3 deep standing straight up ------ since I live at the junction of Interstates 10 and 12 , which is kind like the hub to the mud parks and I spend a lot of time on the highways , I see a lot of unique ways to transport atvs , I do see quite a few people standing them up on the back racks , double wide on big trailers and have 10 or more ---I wouldn't do it unless there were like 100 straps holding them down ------ I see at the atv shops stand them up on the back racks to do certain jobs on them
misterclean59 and _Wilson_ like this.
