Another Shifting issue

I searched the threads but cannot find this specific issue.
My 2015 Rancher works flawlessly in Auto mode. However in electronic shift mode if I am driving say in 3rd gear and come to a stop and need to downshift, while stopped, it will get stuck between gears and will not downshift or upshift and the --- displays.
If I turn the bike off and put it in Auto turn the bike back on and push it a little ways I can get the bike back in gear. Again it works flawlessly in Auto and it will sometimes, not always, fail to downshift in ESP from a stop.
Suggestions?

Garage
start with pulling the elec shift motor cover area, clean out all the factory grease , re-pack with fresh grease. if that don't work ?, then put a bullet in it..lol.

Have you changed the oil yet? If so, what kind?

Hi: By chance did you touch the throttle when the bike was stopped and then tried to shift it? That can cause a problem.

Garmin Montana 600 Ram mount & Rugged mount

The oil has been changed, used the honda branded oil from the dealership.
I am unclear as to what you are asking in regards to touching the throttle while stopped because if I was touching the throttle I wouldn't be stopped. the bike has done this a bunch of times and I have tried various iterations of up shifting, down shifting, rocking the bike, pushing it ahead and backward. the only thing that seems to work is to turn it off, leave it off for a while, put it into auto mode, restart the bike and push it ahead until it shows D on the display. A short tow with the bike not running but the key on will do the same thing but there's not always someone around for the short tow.
I'll try the grease thing and see how that goes.

Hi: If your bike is stopped in gear and your touch the throttle it will stop the bike from shifting for a short time frame.

So when you are in 3rd, and leave it in 3rd and come to a stop and it gets stuck in that gear, do you try and rock the whole atv back and forth some while shifting down to 2 and then 1?

2004 TRX400FA (Rancher 400AT)
MotionPro twist throttle kit
12" handlebar mounted light bar
rear rack wheelchair carrier
Cycle Country 48" plow w/ KFI hybrid mount
Champion 3000 lb winch w/ synthetic rope
23" Titan 489's all around (saving clutch)

2011 Grizzly 450 EPS

it doesn't get stuck in gear, it gets stuck between gears and yes I do the whole move it forward/move it backward, let it role forward down the hill etc, it ain't shiftin and you can't hear the motor trying to shift it either, just stuck between gears

when ya pulled off the shifter motor with housing, what kind of grease did you replace the factory grease with. no need to separate the motor from the housing. this is about the shifter gears in the housing..
