25 Inch Tires for Honda 250 Recon

Hi All,

New member here with a 2012 Honda TRX250TM FourTrax Recon. Considering a 2 inch lift kit and larger tires to gain more ground clearance. Most of my riding is on rutted and rocky trails where good ground clearance is needed. From the research I've done so far, I could fit larger tires on my existing rims (11 inch front, 9 inch rear) but they would have to be 25 inch tires. The stock tires are 22 inch diameter, so I was hoping to find 23 or 24 inch tires so they wouldn't rub my fenders and cause a significant power loss. But 25 inch tire choices are more common and they are available for front or rear. I found some ITP Mud Lites, front 25x8-11, rear 25x12-9. If anyone has some experience with 25 inch tires on the Honda 250 Recon, I'm all ears. Plus any suggestions on wheel spacer widths would be helpful. Thanks.

Here's a recent thread on the topic: https://www.hondaatvforums.net/forum...ml#post1279142

We have 25's on the front of our Recon, and only get rubbing when turning all the way. Steering did also become more difficult with the bigger contact patch.

You may want to consider getting 12" rims all around.... That will give you the most tire choices.

Without a lift, in my opinion the Recon does best with 24's in the front and 23's in the rear.

But you're already planning a 2" lift, so keep us posted.

Great info. Thanks. I think I'll look for 24 and/or 23 inch choices plus investigate 12 inch rims. The 25 inch rear would also be pretty wide compared to the stock tire width. Thanks again.
