Auxiliary Plug

I seem to have no power coming from my auxiliary plug on my 1993 Honda Fourtrax. I have had lights and hand warmer on it for years and now nothing?? I checked the fuses under the seat and they are fine. Are there any other fuses I should be aware of. I also have a winch hooked up and it works fine.....Sorta stumped and considering hooking the extra lights I have up direct to the battery??? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

have you checked wire end with a meter?
if not? start there, if NO power, follow wire back to battery and look for damage

did you check for voltage on both sides of the fuse holder , have seen many times that the fuse is not blown , but the fuse is not making a good connection to the fuse holder ---Every atv I have or had , that is one of the first things I do , cut them glass fuse holders out and install blade type fuse holders with rubber covers to water proof the fuse

that wire from the aux to the battery is I believe pink and very small gauge wire , have seen them melt down and ruin the harness

Did check for power at the plug. Not sure but think those wires tie into the ignition?

Ok thanks, will have a look at that. I happen to have the newer type fuse holder.

Check the fuses located in the battery compartment—just in front of the battery. There are two of them—you wanna check the one with pink wire

Accessory power 12V should be available at the handlebar plug when ignition switched on. If it’s not, then you can use the wiring diagram in the Appendix of the service manual to find connection points.

These are shown as (pin) >= (plug). You can check for continuity or power at the end point first but then I always start troubleshooting nearest the power source.

So you start out at the battery and there are two leads going to two separate fuze holders (pink and red). This harness terrminates at two separate connectors. Check the integrity of this harness and fuzes—this harness is especially notorious for rodent damage not just by chewing but also because those connectors become fouled by mouse pee.

Clean every connector you come across with contact cleaner and a plumbers acid brush—then apply a film of permatex dielectric grease to the pin/plug and terminal boot—will help protect against moisture intrusion and make connectors easier to connect/disconnect

You may have to take off the front fender and/or fuel tank to get at the ignition switch and accessory connectors —they are protected by a little box mounted in front of the steering assy
