Gear reduction

I bought a 08 Honda rancher 420 foot shift on 27 inch og outlaws and the person I bought it from said it had a 35% gear reduction or a clutch kit I can’t remember but is there a way to check? It turns the 27s like nothing

take off the right side cover and count the teeth of the clutch basket and the primary gear -----I have a 35% in my 450 with 29.5s , with an empty ice chest and a 35MPH wind at my back I get about 19mph and can take off from a stop in 3rd easy

I don't know 420s , but with a 450 , I took the clutch basket and primary right out of a 300 , stuck it into the 450 , no grinding or welding and it is 14.5% -----

420's and 500's there is no cheap gear reduction. They're all about $425-450

Guess that is not too bad $ , if you want to play , you got to pay ----I have been very lucky with gear reductions , have 5 , 2 bikes had them already installed , the other three I found used and pieces parts , have never bought one out right fresh -----only thing is if you are in a hurry looking for one they don't come around , keep looking ---- there was some reductions on FaceBook recently for sale , don't remember what sizes and models

I could be wrong but I’m sure the main GR’s for 420’a are 35 and 62%. I’m inclined to say a 35% would pull 27’s fairly easily as a 62% pulls 30+ mud tires.

There's a 15.5 for those bikes too. I was looking at one for this 06 I have with 28's. Too much for me to spend with another kid on the way.
