1986 and 1987 Honda Fourtrax 350's

Howdy, This is my first post on this forum. I just bought 2 Honda 350 Fourtrax's, They both need rings and a couple small things like carbs cleaned ect. My question is what would i have to do to make one a mud rig, so i can take it out and play in creeks. im looking at just buying new piston and having them bored, anyone have any suggestions on if i should put a bigger cam, carb, piston, ect. Im not exactly looking for top speed, just looking for torque and reliable. I wanted to lift and snorkel one and just make it a toy for the weekends. Also if this post isn't allowed i will delete. Thanks

The old 350 Fourtrax are very poor 600 lb. mud bikes. There is only 4 inches of suspension travel front & rear on straight swingarmed front & rear axles. You can't lift kit them at all without destroying both driveshaft u-joints. Better to just enjoy them as stockers... or better yet, put them to work.

Interesting proposition Thanks for asking.

Ive seen a few of these old ones used For creek boating but No one ever says how long they last. Those fat tires seem to float ok though. they are among the heaviest of 350 types.

Some members here have tried it no doubt –lengthening swing arms and such. Too much work for me.

If you can get an engine rebuilt and get them reliable runners, you’d be doing Better than most

Yeah, honestly just looking for something to work on in spare time. I’ve heard that they are really good four wheelers and can hold up to a lot of hard abuse. I’m getting them both for pretty much nothing I’ll have some money to make something fun. I’ll keep updates with what I do to them.
