ES or Foot

All other things equal, would you purchase a 2017 Recon 250 with or without Electronic Shifting? I have durability concerns about the ES. ATV will be lightly used and meticulously maintained.

Thanks.

I agree manual foot shift simple answer to WHy is, less parts to fail, read/search any honda atv tread and you will find thousands of treads about E shift issue's
when they work there great, when they don't??
facts are simple
its more parts to up keep
if you stay on top of PM's on e shifts, there more likely to NOT have issue's
but there are some that still do
yet you seldom ever read of foot shift issue's

time proven STRONG long lasting design over E shifts! IMO

also if buying for a KID, or anyone to be honest
it will teach them a lot about hand eye foot coordination that only helps them in life IMO too!

For those of us with ES is there anything we can do to prevent the problems with the ES system?

Thanks

I went with a 2018 Recon 250. $3188 which included ALL fees. Got the foot shift. I appreciate the feedback as well as all the discussions on the other sections of this site.

I think you made the best decision with foot shift ---- the Recon 250 has alway been a solid bike in the past
