New or used. Can't decide

first time at buyer. Can't decide between 2016 Recon 250 that was a part of the Boy Scout ate training course for $1999 or new 2017 Recon 250 for $2600 + $400 destination fee. Thoughts?

With those prices, I’d buy new. I paid 1800$ for my 400EX and wouldn’t have even had to think about it if there was a brand new one sitting next to it for 1000$ more

IF you can afford it, new is always better.

Unless you can do repairs yourself, I would go with the new Recon for that amount of money. As @Riverc said, with new you'll know what you have. With dealership repair shop charges of $50-75/hr you can spend a lot of money quickly even for minor repairs. With the new Recon you'll have a warranty!

new without a doubt
why gamble on how well it was treated at the camp, kids as you know can be hard on things
plus come time to re sell it, you will get back more so IMO a better deal

I bought new.

One of my considerations was resale value. And what I saw and heard was they hold their value a lot, so buying used, I would pay almost as much as new.

Also with new you get a warranty? and a clean slate. You have no idea how a used atv might have been used, or even if it's honest.

And you can select all the features and options you want or need.

I am new here and just got a couple 2018 Recons for about 2600 each. I got a 2012 Rancher for $2300. Not sure why you have to pay a delivery charge on a used 2017. You can't go far without tripping over a Recon. They are great but people "out grow" them quick,

I would buy used but I have the ability and friends with even more ability when it comes to fixing and maintaining the 4 wheelers.

The hardest thing out my way for used is finding them with a good title or a title at all.

In my state if you buy a used four-wheeler from a private party that is under $3,000 you don't have to pay tax on it again.
