Scenario 1 is preferred.
Or option 3.
Tell wife you're just popping to the store, give it ten minutes and ring her saying you broke down and will stay until you've fixed it, you may be a while as you don't quite know what's wrong with it yet.

1998 TRX300FW, Apart from winch it's original. Honda got it right, why mess. (Sold to collector)

2013 TRX500FMD, ex lifeboat service and very low hours / miles.

1986 TRX350D, tidy but a project.

So he told you it was a 97 looks , judging by the fender/tank color , dash color , rear rack I'd say it is a 1st gen 300 88-92 , the exhaust pipe makes me think 88 ----- I think it is worth $150 for parts if it doesn't work out

I looked real close and it looks to me like that is a coil over shock ie strut.

Can you PM the ad to me ? I'm not going to snatch it..haha! ...... I'd just like to see the ad, cause modles from 95-2000 had the updated (straight) exhaust ...... With Donaldson exhaust, and a brass purge plug, instead on the old school double bolt on pirge plate.
