Honda 300 winch fairlead question

Got the KFI winch plate and winch mounted to the 97 300 yesterday. Winch plate mounted up with no issues, but the angle for the fairlead is a little weird on this thing, and it's also a couple of inches behind the front bumper.

Anyone using this plate on a 2nd or 3rd gen 300? Did you put a 2nd fairlead on the bumper too to keep the winch cable from rubbing the bumper, or did a single fairlead on the winch plate work ok?

This guy at 5:30 kind of shows what I'm talking about. Looks like on a straight pull you'd be fine, but if you're pulling at any angle at all the cable/rope will be dragging across the inside of the bumper.

I don't have a 300, but have a 400, and I was NOT happy with the way my roller mounted, so I made my own brackets to move it to the front of the rack, wasn't that hard I used angle iron I had laying about
no pic's handy
but not that hard to make if you have basic skills and tools and metal
a welder would make life easier, but I made mine without one using bolts to hold all together! been on atv for 20 yrs now and taken a LOT of abuse over them yrs LOL

Yeah mine is like that on my 93
I will just have to be careful with pull angle but a second fairlead sounds good if you figure out how to mount it on the bumper

This winch has synthetic rope on it (I'm usually not a fan, but it was already on there, and I figure the kid will like it more) so that's a little more concerning to me than it would be if I were running wire.

I think I'll see if I can figure out a way to mount a 2nd fairlead to the front bumper.

I have a 300 with double fairleads , on my 450 I extended the fairlead with pieces of pipe so it would be past the bumper tubes

The 450 has an extended Hawse fairlead behind the bumper , sandwiches the front bumper plate and a roller fairlead on front ---- 1/2 inch pipe fits perfect in the recessed bolt hole of the Hawse , and the cable never really touched the Hawse , it is in there more as support

I have an extra 300 bumper that has a roller fairlead welded to the bars up front, so the fairlead is on the front of the front bumper. I'm going to use that on the next build with a winch with wire rope, but was thinking I might put a Hawse fairlead on the KFI plate and then try to add another hawse fairlead to the front bumper. I might try sandwiching some short pipe to push the front hawse fairlead forward to right behind the front bumper where the line won't contact the bumper pipes. I'll have to play with it a bit when the fairleads come in.

I ordered one of them 1st gen 300 winch plates that member Platto linked up , had never seen them pre-fab'bed for a 1st gen before - I have the winch for my 1st gen blue 300 and was working on a plate but never did finish that job , still need a switch and a solenoid , I am liking the KFIs , have 2 of them with no problems so far ------- like Shade was saying , the clamps to hold the plate to the frame on the 1st gen plate look a little iffy , I don't think it would go anywhere , I have had winches clamped on top the front rack before LOL

That winch plate from the link above came in today , I was very happy to see it is a " Warn " original part number 28878 old school made for the 90-92 300 , I was kind of sad when I stuck it up under the bike and found it fits the frame nicely but the snorkel is in the way and will have to be rerouted

Jeep , I was reading the instruction that came with the winch plate I just got , they show using two clamps around the front bumper tubes that are bolted to the Hawse fairlead they supplied
