2006 Honda 350 Rancher & Racks Restore

So in the quest to restore my racks and just clean up my new used purchase I removed the front and rear racks and took down to have sandblasted and powder coated, pretty simple. So my old place was sold and the new business has a idiot behind the desk. How much and how long to do these?? The guy acted like I was the first one ever to ask that question???

Long story short he did not know the cost but they were 3 weeks at least behind. Enough for me, took home and after what seemed to be forever I got 80 percent of the rust off with a flap disk and a sander. Headed out today to Harbor Freight to purchase a sandblaster.... I am sure I will have a lot of use for it.... after this job. Sure.

Let us know how that HF sandblaster works. I've seen modifications people have done to make them useable. I really need a cabinet, but have to get my shop cleaned out and get some funds before I go down that road.

I purchased the pressurized pot, the smallest one they sold, 20 lbs of media. $52 with my always handy 20% off coupon. I had one of the larger ones when I was doing plasma cutting and powder coating and it worked just fine. Used the black slag media and it did a great job. I am ticked I needed one but with only one power coating place in town now and 3 / 4 weeks out I needed to get er done.

I did all my blasting outside, and put a large sheet of heavy plastic down when I wanted to try and recycle.

So I got my sandblasting done.... sandblasting skill will never be on my resume! The POS hood that came with the setup kept fogging up but I got it done. I did buy a much better one at TSC and they have a lot of nicer sandblasting and other stuff.

Used the POR15 using rubber gloves as I had been for warned. It went on pretty nice and looks ok when dried. Going on a road trip and when I get back it will be time to put it all together. Yes and I have the rear brake to replace also. Pictures when I get back.
