We had dirt track cars when I was a kid and really enjoyed those few races before the “feature” final race and reminds me of the newer NASCAR format with stages. Personally, I like the races (stages) within a race and the fact a win really means something.

Martinsville is in Virginia, ~1/2 track and you will see plenty of bumping/rubbing on this paperclip style track. I have attended various NASCAR events and depending on how you do it, the experience can be as simple as driving to an event, sit in the stands and enjoy the race or alternatively, you can arrive a few days ahead of the event, watch practice, meet drivers and experience tailgating at a new level. You can bet on many different sporting events including and not limited to NASCAR.

Yep , I knew about the pre race days and the hoppala of race day from my buddies who pack up every year for Taledago , they always have good stories ----- I don't want to bet on the race , I have not picked a winner yet , just asking cause I have never seen or heard of odds on a driver ------ I like bumping , should be a good one then

Speaking of bumping , last week there was a car that looked like he might have intentionally took out the car next to him , he just turned right into him and put him in the wall , can't remember who they were , does that kind of stuff go on , they do run teams right

If you are referring to the 4 car and 42 car bumping, my take on that was hard racing occurred with no give for laps leading to some frustration. IMO, the frustration boiled over when the 42 took the air off the 4 in a turn allowing the 4 to step out some and IMO, the 4 came down to show some displeasure and the "bump" into the 42 turn the 4 back into the wall.

This is also new to me, we don’t have NASCAR here at all lol.

So run through the basics for me, how many laps, how many entrants, car restrictions, BHP, top speed, basic rules etc etc..

I've been to several tracks over the years but for the past 10 plus years I've went to every Bristol race spring and fall event there is. We get a hot pass on qualifying day in the spring, and get several autographs and great action photos. NASCAR races vary in length most of them are four or five hundred miles but the short tracks like Martinsville and Bristol are 500 laps making them the shortest races there are at 250 miles.

I'm really not a fan of the stage racing, I like the points but the extra cautions I believe are BS. They can just throw the green-white-checkered to the top 10 cars and then put it away and let them race! If they must throw the yellow as the 11th Place car passes, they should at least do what's called a quickie yellow. With a quickie yellow all lead lap and lap down cars are allowed to pit it as soon as the pits are open. Therefore it will allow all drivers to get back to racing sooner. There are enough cautions as it is in the races, why throw an extra 14 laps of caution into every race? And with this the second stage is always shorter they may say 75/75 and then another hundred to the Finish or whatever. But the second stage is always shortened by at least 5 to 7 Pace laps.

Video from spring 2017

Here's a video I made of all the photo's I took last spring. starts out in the pits on Friday, then goes to the races on sat & mon. sunday was rained out. The night races there in august are the best. We camp across the street from the track, it's a flat rate weather you stay one night or 8! usually I get there on thurs, and leave mon am in the spring and sunday after noon in aug. They have a brunch for season ticket holders for the Aug, race on Sunday am. Usually theres a guest speaker, and lots of door prizes. We have never won anything, but they let you take left overs home. Stuff like pop tarts, krispy kremes, breakfast bar's ect.
