Snakes and Bobcats, Oh My

After weeks of rain, I was finally able to ride my Rancher 420 today. It was good to be outdoors.

There was a large washed-out gully I could not cross so I got off and walked. There was a lot of activity on the road beyond the gully.

Deer tracks were everywhere but mixed in was the track of a big bobcat. Was so busy looking at the tracks I almost didn't see the baby rattle snake a few steps away. He wasn't sure how he felt about me being there so I had to kick the dirt a little to get him to stretch out so I could get a good picture. He was about 7-8 inches long. Yes, I had on snake boots. I would not have done this with a larger snake. I don't normally play with any of them. LOL.

Meow , the claws of a cat fold back and don't show on the track unless they are running ------ that rattler looks like a garden snake , got a close up !!! My philosophy on snakes is kill first , identify later

Seems I'm not much better at tracks than I am at ATV repair.

I've only seen one coyote on this property. I've seen quite a few bobcats so that's the first thing I thought of. Silly me. I yield to @fishfiles, @Goober, @Macarena Man and @mrbb. Would one of you mind pulling this knife out of my back?? )

Here's the cat I've caught on my game camera 3 times over the past year. He's very handsome and big!

Okay, I'll admit that I did doubt myself about the snake after I posted the pic. If anything else, it's a sub-species of the common brown snake.
