DOT for ATV/UTV Use Only!
"
is there some sort of set rules that differ for, ATV "DOT" rules from car/truck "DOT "rules??
I mean some UTV go a 100 MPH, so are they speed rated and such??
as I never heard of any??

either a tire is street legal(DOT approved) or NOT

please explain if you can!

My guess would be a load rating difference. I'm interested to find out though.

Thanks for your question. Yes, there are differences in the testing procedures to become DOT rated for an ATV/UTV tire compared to a truck tire.

Tires that carry the DOT approval from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration need to pass their testing procedures. If they do not pass the NHSTA validation testing they do not get to put DOT on the sidewall.

ATV/UTV tires also have load ratings and speed rating listed on the sidewall.

Hope this helps.

OK well that just opens more questions from me?>

what are the difference in ratings, as IMO< a DOT tire means its a street legal tire NO
so, if the ATV tire is DOT< rated
doesn't that lean its a street approved tire then or NOT

as if NOT whats the point of using the DOT name at all then??
seems miss leading??

as most NON street legal tires just DON"T add anything to them, but weight ratings & maybe and ply's?
as NO need to say NOT DOT approved, its sort of taken for granted no??

so, do you know what the ATV/UTV tire DOT rules are for the tires, and I have NEVER seen a SPEED rating on an ATV.UTV tire, can you show me any?/ or give an example of them??

A DOT ATV/UTV tire means it is legal to be ridden on the street. It has been certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. We do not have the certification rules as the manufacturer is the one that applies for DOT certification.

I can tell you the Braven Ironside 28/10R-14 for example, has a 77J load index/speed rating (AKA Service Description):

77=908 lb. load rating
J=62 MPH

Hope this helps.

OK thanks, I looked on your site and didn;t see any spec's on them that was why I asked too

and yup, that was about what I was wondering about, what speed ratings they have

so to be honest and fair, these tires wouldn't be legal to use on road with speed limits over 60 mph then, or safe ?? ??
Considering many large sport UTV"S AT v's will break 62 mph without a sweat, makes one wonder ?? or wonder what NON DOT tires are rated at for speeds??

Do they make it in:
24x8-12
24x10-11
?

Lemme guess...probably not. I think these tires would be great for my riding...especially how much asphalt my tires see.

All of the tires will have the service description on the sidewall. ATV/UTV tires are ment for limited on road use, I do not believe they are intended for people to use on the road hat high speed.

Unfortunately they are not mad in the size you need at this time.

Here is a link to the sizes they currently make:
