Rincon 680 won't start and has bo fire!
Hey everyone, Im new hear and I'm having some problems with my machine. Tow sundays ago I rode my machine like always with no troubles at all. I brought my machine home and sprayed the entire machine off and under the inner fenders and everything. Went outside two days later to ride to my shop and she has yet to fire up again! My buddies and I have worked with it all week with no success at all. All three of us have Rincon 680's and know our machines pretty well...we thought. The machine is not flashing any codes on the dash and the machine is getting no fire. We have pulled all the fuses and all are just fine. We have disconected cleaned and reconnected all of the brain connecters under the handlebars and also all of the other connecters we could get our hands on. The fuel pump has power and we can hear everything works as it shoulds and just keeps turning over and over with no fire at all. Then to top off my week we are having a major snow storm here in NC today and Im stuck like chuck!!Please help me folks!!
Thanks Alot,
Mark Burgess

at this point there is no crazy or dumb questions. No I didnt use a pressure washer I just used my regular water hose because my machine is camo and I was trying to avoid the pressure washer for that very reason. I went through the kill switch before and felt like a fool for that as well LOL. This situation is driving me crazy and to add we have about 11 inches of sbow on the ground and its still coming down fast. I've even bypassed the bank angel sensor to see if that might be the problem and still no go! I really do appreiate all the responses I can get, no question is dumb and all are appreiated!!!
Thanks Again Fellas

try changing the spark plug..check all wires comming to and comming out of your c.d.i...check your wires comming out of your stator side of motor..make sure they all are clean and tight. check all your ground leads..make sure they are tight. battery ground to motor ground. if you changed spark plug..and still no spark..unscrew the spark plug boot..hold the wire close to the engine block..crank it over..does it spark then ?..if not..your not getting power to your c.d.i..or your coil...quick run down on how they fire. first..you turn on key..lol..yeah..i know..dumb..lol..power is now hot in wire harness..you push start button..starter seloniod contacts come up inside..allowing battery voltage to cross..then on to starter..starter turns..motor cranks..stator is turning ( when motor is running )..stator is putting out ac voltage ( yeah..i know..ac in a dc bike ? )..trust me..it does...lol..stator's ac voltage goes to reg/rec..this converts the ac to dc..then to battery..and then on to lights. the stator area also has a pick up coil..this senses when the piston is at TDC..top dead center.. and tells the c.d.i when to send power to the coil..then on to the spark plug to fire..if any of this is out of time..or not good..you won't get fire. ( this is also for a bad ground..like..if a ground wire came undone )..sooo..you now have the basics on how it should fire..and what to check..hope this helps..and yeah..i got about 4 inches of snow in my yard here in arkansas..lol.

My son's 250EX did the same thing to me. .Put a new plug in, and it would foul out in under 2 minutes and die. No spark after a carb rebuild. Ended up replacing CDI box.
Maybe yours is fouling plugs immediately? I would put a new plug in there and ground it against the engine block, Leave the old plug in the engine while you do the test. If you get spark, it will give you a better clue.
What year is it?

Mark, I'm the one who sent you the email on craigslist to get on these forums. There are plenty of other people who usually respond. Give it a day or so.
I took mine to the dealer too, and the cost for a new CDI is $180, plus their troubleshooting and install time.
I have a manual for the 250 and 450 that I own, and the NO SPARK condition could only be
Faulty Spark Plug
Fouled Spark Plug
Loose or disconnected ignition system wires
Broken or shorted spark plug wire
Faulty Ignition Coil
Faulty CKP sensor
Faulty Exciter Coil
Faulty Engine Stop switch (or shorted)
Faulty Ignition Switch
or CDI
Hopefully someone else can help you soon!

did you ohm ur stator to see if it was carrying volts if your stators bad it will not run also if water is in ur block ur stator will not work right either then i would goto the cdi u can take it to a honda dealer they can test them for a small fee then we come to the coil before u parked it to spray it off did it sputter back fire or any of the above if so might of been a coil brake down

Yes and thanks again for suggesting this site to me. People have been very polite and trying their best to be helpful. I think I'm going to give one more day cussing and throwing things around the garage before I break down and take it to the dealer. Literally the machine ran great with no issues at all and after I finished my riding for the day, I parked her in the drive and sprayed her off with a water hose underneath and the body and thats it, she never fired again. Whats ironic is the last time I rode her I was very gentle; no mud holes or handlebar deep water or mud, I was very easy on her and now here I am 10 inches of snow and stuck! Also, we checked the coil and all fuses with the multimeter and everything test OK.

Also Mike, the only thing I havent checked so far is the Stator. You and a couple of others have mentioned that to me today and that will be the first thing checked tomorrow! I am so bummed about this bad situation! This is the first time my machine has been down with 2700 miles on her.
