2011 Rancher Temp & Engine Light/Shut down

Hey guys I have a 2011 rancher 420. When I am riding for a little bit my temp and oil light flash and the atv shuts down. I can put it to nuetral and it starts back up, I ride it again and it shuts down again. It does it sometimes but sometimes it won't. I rode it around today for about 20 minutes and it never did it. I checked the oil, and air filter, fuel shut off and all that stuff. Thanks for the help guys.

I saw you posted in the other thread with same problem, shade suggested bank sensor. It sounds like a sensor also to me if everything is good.

Is your fan kicking on? Sounds like it might be getting hot.

Most 4-wheeler problems are caused by a loose nut connecting the handlebars and the seat!!

You only need two tools in life -- WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

that is kind of what i questioned. I cant remember. But that day I do remember my fan kicking on some, but I wouldnt think it would get that hot since it wasnt that hot outside.

I would think though if it was getting hot only the temp light would come on for a while.

Hey guys just for future reference for all the 420 owners if you ever have this problem. I took my rancher to the dealer because the warranty ends tomorrow, and it ended up being a loose battery cable. Thats what was causing it to shut down. I feel like a moron because they charged me 40 bucks for that, should have checked that before I took it, but o well its fixed. thanks

I know mine are tight after winch install. Its amazing at what kind of havoc what a loose battery cable can cause in something.
