i recently aquired a honda four wheeler,i beleive it between 89 to 96.has full time 4x4,decompression lever, front rear racks, metal tank etc.runs like a champ but i am hearing a like binding, squeak when i turn sharp corners even at low speed.Someone has welded the outer axle nuts on the rear axles(can still remove wheels) so i cant slide the brake drum cover back far enough to get to the brakes to check them.any suggestions.also it is shaft drive model,
cant seem to find a repair manual for it either.

also where can i get a repair manual download from?i tried through this site but wouldnt work.

It is the rear differential going bad. If you can't get the axle nuts off you will not be able to fix and your only option will be replace the differential, axle, rear brakes, swingarm, etc.

Link to manual [1995-2000]Honda_TRX300_TRX300FW_Fourtrax_Service_Repair_Manu al.pdfand use hondaatvforums.net as the password

One think you could do is cut the axle off that way you pull it out of the differential.

You are going to have to find a way to break the welds loose, or replace the whole rear end and everything. Sounds like the breaks, or the rear diff to me

Thanks,I just loosened the inner axle nuts, moved them back out of the way on the axle shaft toward wheel, slid the brake hub cover out as far as i could.i was not able to get the brake drum to slide back(frozen or something)on the axle shaft(tricks to try??).I disconected the rear brake cables and worked the brake actuator rod back and forths.I then put everything back together except for hooking up the rear brake cables.Took it for a test ride and heard no noises.Im thinking the brake shoes are gone or hanging up but i cant get the drum to move so i can replace them or see whats up.guess i will just run it for now with front brakes.

try looking at your front brakes as well ?. as for your rear axle nut on the brake side being welded ?..this has to be one of the stupidest things i've ever seen !!!..i don't know why people think this will solve a problem !!..it only temp fixes it...when it comes time to replace the rear brake shoes ?..it's a royal pain to go through this chit !!!..lol. you need to get that welded crap off of it..and repair the atv the right way !!!..when it comes time to replace all the bearings and seals ?..your gonna hate it !..seeing how you can't get to the bearings and seals right now !..lol. while your looking at your front brakes ( have the atv up off the ground ..all 4 tires up ! )..take a look at your front cv-joints ?..if they clack ?..pop ?..when your turning ?..then they need servicing ?..or replaced ?. main thing right now ?..is get that stupid welding crap off the rear end !!..fix it the right way !.
