Oil change- types and brands

Any tips on Honda friendly oil brands that are not the expensive Honda oil?


2012 Honda Rancher 4x4 ES

Shell Rotella oil. you can pick up a gallon of 15w40 oil for about $15. or you can pick up the rotella synthetic for about $22 a gallon. OR you can pick up the valvoline 4 stroke atv oil for about $4 to $5 a quart.

i run valvoline atv oil in all my foremans . and run a honda oil filter (because it comes with a new o-ring)
i buy the oil at autozone reg price is $4.99 but is on sale all the time for $1.99!!!!

My auto zone sucks, they never have it on sale. if they did i'd probably buy 10+ quarts

X2 on the shell rotella t 15w40 works great and is wet clutch approved run it in my TRX450ER and my 700 Grizz

recently sold 07 TRX 450ER 14/1 CP piston/ +1 valves intake & exhaust/ 208 web cam/ High Rev valve springs/ potred & polished/bored carb by DASA/ DASA Classic exhaust / Leagers +2 MX Lt a-arms/ Ohlins Lt front & Fox Podium X DSC Rear shock and LSR DC-6 linkage/LSR duel row carrier/ lsr Axcaliber Pro axle/ Pro Armor skid & rear bumper/ Hiper Bead locks/ Quadcross Pro's/ Houser +1 stem/ Precision stablizer / Pro Taper Fat bars/ ASV levers/ Quadtech hump seat. My trail ride is a 07 GRIZZLY 700 !

Is the shell rotella 15x40 you guys are talking about, the plain old diesel oil we use in our trucks.

yes star, thats it. surprisingly it is JASO MA approved. and thats good for wet clutches so when i seen that i was all in!
