03 Foreman Rubicon 500 will not go in gear

I have a 03 honda foreman rubicon 500 4x4. I cut a wire on it then i fixed it, then i flipped it onto the back rack so i could get under it to do some work.. Then i put it back down and it will not go in gear. When you push the shifter into drive. It just starts making a grinding noise. Does anyone know what this problem might be?

I could be a worn out clutch lining.

Maybe you knocked the shift linkage out a little bit,or bent the rod somehow...

it feels like it goes in gear where the linkage, from the shifter handle. but it goes nowhere. Does wiring have anything to do with it or could it go in gear with out wiring?

if it were me i would call the honda dealer and ask them if the shifter is purely mechanical or if it is electrical. dont tell them your rubicon is broke down or all you'll get from them is "im sorry but i cant help you unless you bring it in"
