450r carb on 400ex

Ok I have a 05 450r carb to put on my 400ex. I've tried it up there and it was super sluggish and it ran much better with the 400ex carb on it. My engine mods are a 416 bore with 12.5:1 compression stage 2 cam full hmf exhaust uni air filter. I need some netting suggestions I guess

Netting suggestions>>Hold the rope between yer teeth while you hold the net up,and away from yer body while you spin around, and release the net in an arc out over the top of the fish,or school of fish, grabbing the rope from yer mouth before the line fully extends all the way out, taking yer teeth with it...As to jetting suggestions...I'd jet it to stock specs to start off with along with checking for vacuum leaks around the boots, set the air/fuel mixture screw to stock, then run it/ride it,and do a plug test were it me...

No vacumm leaks as it runs perfect with the 400 carb. And as far as nets not fishing nets I'm talking trapeze nets. Im addicted to circus tricks and I'm a little heavy for regular nets

I'd run the 400 carb if it runs perfect on it then...

ok you have to realize you increased the airflow by 6mm therefore the main jetting and slow jetting will have to be increased. Start with a 45 slow and see how the low side is running. As far a a guesstimate on the main try a 180 and run a plug test.

For the netting Mr. Thabush described if you make small loops roughly 10" like rolling up an extension cord then grab the net about 1/3 the way down in the same hand while holding the rope, now about 18" down grab the net with your other hand and stick the weighted rope in your mouth, extand your free had back down all the way and grab the net. Rear back and give her a good toos almost like throwing a big frisbee. release the net and let her fly as soon as it hits the water count to 3 and pull. lol

Welp,we live on the coasts, not inland lubbers,we do what is local....As to circus tricks,I don't know about all that now...I'd try what da Moose suggested with the jets before I tried anything else...

I'm going through the head ache of tunning the 450r carb on my quad aswell. I thought I had it with the 50 pilot and 200 main. Then I made two laps and it started cutting out bad. I then pulles it apart to find the choke somehow got bumped and on. I am now going for a 52 pilot and I'm at a 180 main. I'm just jetting up till it stops popping on decel. As for the pilot jumps I've made I had the 50 in at 3 1/2 turns on mix to run ok. Still coughing through carb if I just bump the throttle slightly. So 52 and 2 1/2 turns is what I'm trying next. Hope this helps and your not alone brother its a headache doing this mod. But the power is sooooo worth it. This 450r carb eats!
