    That's so the new rings can break in properly. You may want to take your cylinder and piston to a automotive machine shop to have them measure everything for you. They would be able to tell you if a simple hone job and new rings will fix your problem.

    You said to rough up the cykinder wall with the hone and to get crosshatch marks. Why is that, I always thought the cylinder walls were to be smooth,
