I forgot to mention that if you know the guy at the dealer that builds the transmissions then he may do it on the side for you for cheap. If he does side work that is.

Ok cool just let me know what they say.If I remember right shift times should be around .3 seconds and the tcc slip should be very close to zero but it can go up to around 40 rpms of slip so that will give you a heads up.Most transmissions don't need a complete rebuild but if they want to warranty them then they'll want to do a complete build. There are also several upgrades for the 4l60s also if you do a search online you can find some good info.

I got your email about your trans. At 45 mph is when the tcc is activated so it could be the tcc is slipping or it could be tps sensor also. The problem with transmissions is they are hard to diag without driving it.I just finished putting one back together that had no 3rd or 4th gear but that was an easy diag cause I could drive it.If I were you I would pay and have it diagnosed by a good shop or dealer or maybe both. You always have the right to a second opinion. They can check for codes and watch the shift times and tcc slip rate and see if the shifts are too long or if the tcc slip rate is too high. That would be the best way to go about it how ever if you email me or post their finding I can let you know if I think that will fix your problem.I hope this helps and I'm sorry I don't have a solid answer for you but there are some of my ideas of what it could be.

Also, in the past I have noticed when adjusting suspension that if you make the rear to soft, it will make the machine handle bad, and the front end will push worse from too much weight transfer to the rear. So i try to make it as even as I can to the front, so you have to experiment to see what works best on your ride. I play with the air pressures too to help with the ride, but too low makes a machine tippy and not steer well, and too much air makes it way to harsh. I'm running 4psi front, and 3.6psi rear on the Mudlite at's. Any lower in the front and it pushes bad, and any less in the rear and it is tippy although it is smoother though.

Hi Bob, no I didn't order the wrench to turn the shock body to the different notches. I'll see how it is when I get it, as I can probably just turn it with a pipe wrench, or a big pair of channel lock pliers. I'll just wrap it first with a rag so as not to scratch it,,,hopefully,,lol.
What position is yours set at? I'm guessing they come set in the middle position.
It won't be the perfect cure for my Rancher as it is still just a simple shock. Someday when I can get a new ride I will install fully adjustable elka, or works performance shocks on one to make it the ultimate utility/fast trail riding machine, but man they are expensive. My bike has over $700 in suspension upgrades over stock, and it made a world of difference on that bike. ttyl
It will have to wait though, I didn't plan on buying another home this year.lol.

Hi Bob, get this, I called the dealership on the preload adjustable rear shock, and they said their computer showed that it was the same rear shock on the newer rancher 420's as my 07. Anyways I took mine off today and drove over there in person, and walked in with the shock, and walked the parts guy over to a brand new Rancher ES, and showed him the preload adjuster on the rear shock on the new machine, and showed him mine.lol..Boy they backtrack quick when you prove them wrong, I guess if you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself. It turned out their computer information on part numbers was wrong, and the guy was to lazy to walk out on the floor to check a new machine to see if I was right when I was on the phone..Lazy people, I'm telling you, as it took me going there in person to take care of it...After all of the nonsense they gave me 10% off on the price to cover my gas to driving there.lol., and it should be here in a few days.

Hi Bobs, Does your new rancher have preload adjustment on the rear shock? I know the front shocks have it on yours, but I wasn't sure on the back shock. Some things I read say yes, and some don't. I need to get a new rear for my 07 as its worn out, and I would like to get a better one for it than what came on it. The dealer says the newer ones aren't adjustable on the rear, but I think he may be mistaken. I'd like to get my hands on the shocks they put on the Ranchers in Canada, they are different than ours, and they are called Canadian Trail Editions up there on their Rancher models, and supposedly allot better.

So, have you come to a decision on your wheeler yet? Are you going to trade for a rancher or haven't you decided yet?
