400ex performance tricks

number 1---CLEAN EVERYTHING..I always install new lock nut on clutch basket,,,,install 450r timming chain,,it's bigger,fits perfect...

decking the cylinder,,at tdc ..i mill the top of deck at 0..runs cooler and better performance.. i always heli-coil the three 6mm holes by the timming chain...

head porting ,,i just blend the bowls under the valves,,don't change their shape,just clean them up..back cut the valves for more flow...

swingarm bearings ,,take them apart at least twice a year and clean and grease them..i seen them so bad .they had to cut them and pound them out...

clean and file the groves off clutch basket...clutch will work smoother....i know i need to shave her butt,it's alittle hairy

That is a good write up.What do you plain the cylinder with?Do you have your own mill or do you just send it to the machine shop?
