How much engine oil for trx450r?

Just changing the oil for the first time and I filled it up to the mark as usual per hondas. It took a little bit less than half a quart to get it there... Is that right? I let the oil drain for 30 minutes or so although I didn't blow the old stuff out with a hose. I thought it was supposed to take just under a quart?

With filter change, the '04 and '05 take 0.87 quarts. After '05 takes 0.73 quarts. The engine oil is separate from the transmission oil on the 450R and that's why it takes such a small amount. For the transmission oil, the '04 and '05 takes 0.58 quarts and after '05 takes 0.72 quarts.

yeah thats about the amount the tranny took. But I changed the filter on it when I did the oil and it took less than half a quart to get it to the fill line on the window

Did you put the filter in the correct way? Turn the motor over a few times to circulate the oil.

Make sure the filter is in the right way or you will cook the motor!!
