Have you done a compression check yet? It could be blowby caused by weak compression rings..Look at the little tiny foam filter in your airbox, see if it is oil saturated..If it is soaked, then it is prolly blow by,and if you run a compression check you may find that it is time for a top end job..If it isn't oil soaked, then maybe someone over oiled the air filter, and that is runoff,or dripped oil...Your machine may have quit due to water getting into the electrical connections shorting them..Check the fuses, and all wiring connections for water,and/or corrosion, clean them well, and apply dielectric grease everywhere...Have you pulled the dipstick to see if there's any water in the oil yet? Look for milky oil,or water droplets on the dipstick..

Same thing happened to me! The water wasn't high enough, but splashed in cuz I had holes drilled in airbox for filter and slip on! The water hit the filter and somehow rinsed off some of the red filter oil on mine into bottom of box! Mine sputtered but didn't stall! Cleaned air filter and reoiled it, and cleaned up oil in bottom, and it never happened again!
