All you have to do is adjust the cable up with the two nuts where the cable attaches at the engine. It does the same thing and costs nothing. Takes about 30 seconds to do. That the first thing I do when I buy an ATV.
Just loosen the bottom nut all the way up. Then tighten the top nut until the lever is all the way up. Now tighten the bottom nut back up to lock it in place.
