04 Rancher 400FGA - diode question

Does anyone know the part number of the 2 diodes that are in the wire harness of a 2004 400 rancher fga wire harness ?
they are 2 prong - there are 2 hidden in the wraps of the harness close to the gas tank

not the one that is installed into the fuse box that is the 3 prong - i know that one is honda part # 31730-MAS-601
DIODE ASSY., THREE WAY (SUMITOMO)

Mdec,
Those are 10A Diodes. You can go to Radio Shack and get a 10A diode, but it won't have the nice prongs that the Honda diode has on it.
If you do get one from Radio Shack, it will need to be inserted the correct way in order for it to work. To easily figure out which way is the correct way, simply put it in one way. If it works, leave it. If it doesn't work, reverse the way you've inserted it.

By the way, what makes you think that one of the diodes might be bad?
You can easily test them with a meter that checks for continuity.... Place the leads of the meter across the diode leads. In one direction, you should have continuity. When the leads of the meter are reversed, you should have no continuity. Simple as that.

Mdec, if you have no continuity either way, then they are definately bad. Now, the question is: Why, or what damaged them? That is an important question to answer before youinstall new diodes.
The 10A Radio Shack diode that you show above should work fine. It even looks like the leads are thick enough to plug in where the Honda diodes were plugged in.

Most 4-wheeler problems are caused by a loose nut connecting the handlebars and the seat!!

You only need two tools in life -- WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
