When I mentioned tight valves i was referring to improper adjustment, they won't tighten themselves, how ever they will loosen a bit. getting louder when warm the oil loosen a bit giving the effect of slightly louder ticking but it doesn't assume they are correct... feeler gauges will determine that

How hard is it do adjust them myself and does it affect it performance wise.

It is one of the more simple things to do. One of these guys will post instructions on how to do it. You will need a feeler gauge and some shims probably.

It will be like a new machine when it's done.

I will need to do mine soon. I'll probably bring mine in though as to not cause any issues with my 4 year warranty. Plus the service manager is a good friend of mine.
