Thx for the compliments guys. It came from a 85 TRX 250 Fourtrax.

The main reason that I didn't just use a flat plate of steel [like the picture of the one in the 1st post] was that I wanted a a better attachment to the axle, instead of just a thin plate. Even if you used a plate, you would have to cut, and weld, to wrap it around the tube. Plus I had no use for that short section of the 300 axle tube.

What parts will interchange?

Since I now have used this 85 TRX 250 Fourtrax as a parts atv, does anyone know what other parts might interchange w/ the 92 300 4x4 Fourtrax?

I think the rear driveshaft may... possibly starter, and some of the electronics.
It has a really strong engine. Will it fit in a 300 2wd frame [w/o welding, etc...:lol]?

the way you did it is the best way to do it and is what most would recommend if you can do it that way, on the other side of it i have seen people use long bolts run thru it with nuts on the end and it actually hold for some time. not recommended but yea.

you did a nice clean install. how do you like the rear so far??

It's only been a few days, but it seems fine. I cross a lot of streams, etc. here in WV, and am going to be checking the gear oil often to be sure it's sealed up good. Before i purchased the 250, i pulled the fill cap, and saw/smelled black stinky gear oil, similar to what you would drain after 100k in a car/truck.
That was a good sign....

haha. sounds good man. ive been lookin for a rear myself, big red 250, fourtrax 250 or foreman 350 to swap mine out with. my rear failed to what i think was water leaking in. im looking the sounds of the full length axle tube.

i would think in trailing or mudding it helps to have the break out of the way more so then in the middle hanging up on things. one of my favorite upgrades that i need to do myself!!!!

That does look nice!
Is that a direct bolt on?
The diff looks larger though, is it the same gear ratio as the 300 4wd, or can it only be used w/ the 300 2wd?

im pretty sure they are all the same gear ratio and im pretty sure they had to cut and weld like you did.

i like the look of the full axle tube and the brake tucked away off to the side. and it just looks tuffer. its a big plus over the stock unit. i think the brakes are better on those also.

Well, the brake housing doesn't have the swingarm mounting studs, like the 250 and 300's do. [see 1st pic in this thread].

edit: I found this pic in a thread on this foreman. It looks like they had to move the mount 3 or 4 inches, and make a shock mount, as the 350 [in this pic anyway] used 2 rear shocks..
