86 fourtrax 350 wont run/start

About a month ago i bought a 1986 honda fourtrax 350 with only about 2,000 miles on it. and yesterday i went mudding with it and swamped it out tailpipe was under water, but after i got pulled out i tipped it up and let all the stuff drain out. and got it to run rough but it slowly got better and ran perfected, and about 20 minutes later it shit out on me. oil was clean, air cleaner was dry. i did notice that fuel pump doesnt click like it normally does. any ideas of what else i could try before spend $130 on a fuel pump and not be it?

Welcome to the forums...Free downloadable manuals in the Schematics/Manual help section in the Technical discussions ...Check all of your electrical connections by taking them apart, spray electrical cleaner into them, allow it to dry, apply dielectric grease in all of them, put them back together, remove both ends of the ground cables, clean the lugs themselves, and the mounting areas, reinstall, stay away from deep water in the future..If the pumps is bad by chance, there's a thread on here telling how to replace it with a $5-10 pump...

with it being an '86..i'd say your pump has pumed it's last ..well...pump !..lol..time for a new one....don't waste your money on a 5 or 10 buck pump....it's not gonna last..if you wanna spend your cash....go to advanced auto parts...tell them you need a 4 psi round 12vdc fuel pump..these are the same size pump round wise, it will fit perfectly right where the old oem one was !..all your gonna need to do..is re-route your fuel lines....sooooo..while your there..pick up some new fuel lines..and may as well grab a inline fuel filter..you can't get them at a dealer anymore. i paid about 40 bucks for the pump a few years ago..still works today.

Did your 1986 TRX 350 Fourtrax come with an odometer ?
Mine does not have one.
How did you determine 2,000 miles ?
Just curious ......

Check the manual on how to do a fuel pump inspection, I've got an 86 as well, and was having fuel problems that were caused by the fuel cut relay. If it is your relay and not the pump, theres a simple mod you can do to bypass the relay. Let me know how it goes.
