Rancher 420 V Grizzly 700
A little while back I did a poll related to most reliable Honda and the most commonly chosen was the Rancher 420 manual shift.
Based on that I am debating between a new Rancher 420 manual 4x4 with power steering and a Grizzly 700 with power steering. I know these are very different machines in terms of size and cost but if you had your choice what would you recommend. I mostly do trail riding and my number one desire is bullet proof reliability. I am a small guy <150 lbs. I have done a fair amount of reading on the forums and both of these machines seem to be very well regarded. Also, if you have any input what will the extra $$$ get me if I go with a grizzly?
Thanks

there's no comparison. literally. it just depends what you prefer. do you want an automatic, or do you want a foot shift? the grizzly has a great CVT in the ultramatic. some say you can get 6k easily on one belt. the rancher would fit the bill for your needs but the grizzly would be so much funner to ride.....not to mention they are so much more plush riding then the SRA. another big thing yamaha has over honda is the front differential lock. it can save your butt in hairy situations. well worth the money in my opinion...the only reason i dont own a grizzly is because they are too damn expensive and my honda's just wont die....and even if they did i would rebuild them LOL

I'm a big fan of the Grizz.Diff lock and IRS is a big plus for my type of riding. Both bikes are pretty much bullit proof, but between the 2 if money was no object it would be the Grizz.

Couldn't you also save some money going with a smaller grizzly?

from the research i have done, the 550 has just as much power, only on top end does the 700 really shine.

I personally think both machines are great as mentioned above. Id also look into the 450 or 550 grizzly since they are alittle closer in size, 420 vs a 700 is a hard comparion.

x2, test ride both and decide which one fits you best, if I had my choice it'd be the grizz.

The grizzly 700 is over rated for the price. Having 45 hp for about 9,000 dollars is lame. Any other brand on the market will last just as long and have more power. As long as you do proper maintence to any machine they will last. Everyone thinks Honda's and Yamaha's are so reliable but any other brand is the same as long as maintence is done. If it was between the two above 420 all the way.

i agree to a certain extent. but i cannot say in my opinion that every manufacturer boasts a reliable machine....that would be like saying ROKETA is a reliable brand. im sorry, thats just not true. but hey, thats just my opinion.

I own both the 420 racher at, and 700 grizzly. both good atvs, but I would take the grizzly over the rancher or any other atv made. diff lock power steering and a clutch you can setup any way you need it on the 700 grizzly.
